Biography

With five track championships at three different tracks, and over 50 open when feature wins at multiple tracks throughout New York and Pennsylvania, Rusty Smith has proven to be a very accomplished driver. Building his first stock car at the age of 14, he transitioned to different divisions through the years. Winning a track championship for asphalt Street Stock in 1994 was just the beginning. 1995 marked the transition into the Sportsman Modified class, with another transition two years later into the asphalt Modified class. 2015 marked Rusty’s transition to Smith racing where he began to race a Northeast Dirt Modified full time. Last season marked Rusty’s 2nd full season on dirt, finishing 2nd in points at I-88 Speedway. With an upcoming 2017 season, Rusty and his team are looking to improve on last season’s success.
