With the intent for racing to be a father/son hobby, Spencer Bayston’s career began at 10 years old. In 2009 he began racing in a used ¼ midget that was purchased from a family friend. Two years later he convinced his family to buy a mini sprint. Racing was only meant to be a hobby, so Spencer continued to play multiple youth sports outside of the track. After claiming 10 of the 15 races on the Kenyon midget schedule, earning himself the championship in 2013, racing became much more than a hobby. 2014 and 2015 were spent teamed up with Bryan Clauson, Inc. and during that period Spencer earned Powri National Midget and National Midget Driver of the Year Rookie honors. Chili Bowl Rookie of the Year and USAC National Midget Rookie of the Year were also earned during that time period. 2016 showed a transition to Keith Kunz Motorsports, finishing runner-up in National Midget points, and also debuting in a handful of winged 410 sprint car races, racking up 4 top 5 finishes. 2017 will include a packed schedule for Spencer, including 50 midget races, and 20-30 410 sprint car races in the Swindell Speedlab #39 owned and wrenched by Keven Swindell. With the past success of Swindell, the team is very optimistic when it comes to the upcoming season.
