Biography

Carly Jo Ellingson began racing Jr. Dragsters in 2003, at the age of nine. Throughout her eight years competing in the NHRA’s Jr. Drag Racing League, she drove her way to six track points championships and nearly 70 event wins! Among these victories, Carly Jo won three Jr. Dragster Challenges, one South Dakota State Championship, and her age category at the 2010 Western Conference Finals, where she claimed a national event championship title and her first “Wally!” In 2012, she made the jump from Jr. Dragsters to the 1970 Ford Mustang that her father bought in 1976, and later rebuilt for drag racing. Since her debut season in the Pro ET and Super Pro classes of the NHRA, Carly Jo has established herself as a serious competitor, consistently posting her mark as top qualifier and adding over ten 1st place victories—including another “Wally” and a National Dragster Challenge win—to her resume. Not only has Carly Jo made a name for herself as an accomplished young driver, but she has also come to be known for her sportsmanly conduct and commitment to her fans. Her determination, skill, and undying love for the sport of drag racing has set Carly Jo apart from the masses, and has made her the champion she is today!
